Great Keppel Island offers seventeen pristine beaches to enjoy water activities, numerous bays and coves to explore, and an abundance of marine life to view whilst snorkelling or viewing from our glass bottom boat.

Cross the island’s untouched interior on several meandering walking tracks, or simply laze on the pristine white sands, soaking up the sun.

The island has a number of accommodation options from permanent tents to cabins and holiday houses.

Taking only 30 minutes on one of our Freedom Fast Cats to this idyllic tropical paradise, you can’t afford to miss out on this unique experience. GKI is located near the Tropic of Capricorn on the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef, and shares waters with the largest heritage listed area in the world.

Maps of the walking tracks are available to discover the wetlands, the old Homestead, the lookouts, or a full day hike to Wreck Beach or find the Aboriginal Shell Midden on your way to Long Beach. Remember to wear shoes, a hat, sun protection, and take more water than you think you’ll need.
Cast a line off the beach and catch that big fish but make sure you check the zoning map for the fishing and green zones.
Rent snorkeling gear and a kayak at Keppel Water Sports and paddle around to Shelving Beach to experience the best coral and fish habitats on GKI. They have beach umbrellas and shelters for hire if you simply want to snooze the day away at the beach.
Walk along the beachfront track to choose from 3 licensed venues: Tropical Vibes have great burgers, boutique items and gifts, Island Pizza has fresh handmade and The Hideway Bistro and Bar has something for everyone!
Enquire at The Hideaway about a relaxing Kahuna Massage or Scuba Diving.
Spread out your towel and relax with a book under a Silky Oak or a Palm tree along the beach or on the grassy area at The Hideaway.
If you’re lucky enough to be staying overnight, enjoy the sunset from under the paperbark trees on Putney Beach.
